Starting at about 50%, each chapter in Through the Ever Night had a little mini cliffhanger. This book does not suffer from the second-book-in-a-series-syndrome at all! The story is brilliant and has a very strong, clear purpose. Through the Ever Night had everything that was missing for me in Under the Never Sky: a gripping plot, characters I cared about, and a story that felt necessary. If I were to read that book again, would I enjoy it more? Who knows.

It almost makes me wonder if I just wasn't in the right mood or frame of mind when reading Under the Never Sky.
